Reviews Dr. Walter Starck, the editor of Golden Dolphin CD Magazine, has said this about my work: December 26, 2003 (Invitation to Contribute) I recently came across a reference to your website and took a look. It is truly exceptional. While there is a lot of good underwater photography around the web, good writing about the diving experience is rare. Your words and images do a great job of conveying the personal experience of diving. You also tell the whole story not just the underwater bit. August 26, 2004 (Post Contribution) I have downloaded and viewed your two (Galapagos) slideshows and both are superb. Your photography is right up there with the very best and beyond that you are doing several things more that almost no others are doing. You are telling the whole story by getting great topside pictures to which most UW photographers either give little attention or ignore altogether. Your text stories are also outstanding. Again, something that most photographers do not do well. Finally, you are taking full control and putting it all together in a presentation in which the artist determines every element. I believe this
approach is the real future of underwater photography. It embodies the
whole potential of the digital revolution. It also, of course, involves
a steep learning curve at first to become proficient in all of the different
skills involved and demands a greater range of talent but it is a lot
more satisfying and the end results speak for themselves. The old approach
of the photographer's role ending at the moment of exposure and leaving
the rest to editors, writers, and graphics technicians was the recipe
for a dog's breakfast. It amounts to an attempt to produce art by a committee. |
